Shiraz has it as a great side dish. It's so yummo and good for you. A lot of people think it's a grain, but it's actually a seed. The Incans were growing it 6000 years ago. I did a little research for an article I wrote for LEO last year. This weblink is a good place to get some info.

Here is a broader search.

Quinoa

You can find it at Whole Foods and Wild Oats.

I like it in a salad with fresh fruit, lime juice, and a bit of olive oil. With ripe mangoes, it's unbelievable.

Nuts N Stuff, a fine purveyor of coffee, teas, candies, spices, nuts, grains and flours is on Preston, practically across the street from Aldi which is practically next door to Value City, north of Eastern Parkway. Hope that makes some sense. You know how we Louisvillains are about giving directions . . .

At least you gave places that exist. I love the ones from 50-100 years ago. They rule.

I know EXACTLY where that spot is located. My dad would take us there on Saturday mornings and we'd have a grand time. 8)

On the old forum, I posted a link to the old Louisville Hotel that existed back before the Civil War.

http://www.myspeakerscorner.com/forum/i ... mid=604770

It was located on the south side of 6th and Main. Robin eloquently described the location as such; In Louisville parlance, the Bristol-Downtown should properly be referred to as "The place where the Louisville Hotel used to be"?

Quinoa

Sorry to take us back to the quinoa topic (I am one of those Louisville natives who give directions by what is no longer there), but I'm such a fan! I use it in place of rice as a side dish and I just made a cold salad with olives, feta, etc. It was yummy. You can use it in just about any recipe that calls for rice or couscous.

I've heard people who should know pronounce it KEEN-wah and also KEEN-ah-wah. Following the vowel rule, I'd think the second is correct.
