name game for restaurants

by John R. » Wed May 23, 2007 3:25 pm

I keep reading these posts and they are cracking me up. Everyone has their little ways of changing the name of a restaurant to make it sound gross. What others are there out there. Here is a list so far of known and some seen on the forum. Anyone can add

Taco Hell =Taco Bell
Taco Smell =''
Awful Waffle=Waffle House
Yack in the box =Jack in the Box
Captain disease =Cap D's
garbage =Mcdonalds
Im not a food"ie", I am a food"er".

Moby's Dick = Moby Dick. We used that in Shelbyville back in the late 70's. Some of us were even gonna steal away in the dark of night and change their sign, but it never happened.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

I like to use TGIMcChilibee's for any of one of the numerous Fridays/O' Charleys/Applebees/Chili's/etc. style of restaurant. Cover up the logo on the menu and I can't tell any of them apart.

The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is a pizza place in Cincinnati called LaRosa's, or as I always called it- LaGrossa's.

Well...If you saw my Jack In The Box link you would know that it would be in your best interest to never refer to Mr. Jack's place as "Junk In The Box"...LOL...

I would have loved to dine at Lynn's Paradise Cafe before it became (As some forum members have stated) the "Paradise Lost Cafe"...

I sometimes wonder if Gumbo A Go-Go became J. Gumbo's because it didn't want to be known as Gumbo A "No-Go" if some of it's new locations didn't match the quality of the Frankfort Avenue Flagship restaurant...

And I saved the best or worst for last (Depending on your point of view)...I know some girls who always refer to the Phoenix Hill Tavern as the "Penis Thrill" Tavern because they claim that the guys who frequent this historic establishment get a little too touchy-feely...Especially on Retro Rewind Wednesdays when a can of Coors Light is 75 cents and well drinks are just $1.50...Go figure...
