Bank Street Brewhouse

by Kurt R. » Sat Aug 22, 2009 1:46 pm

My wife and I went to Bank Street last night and it was awesome. My wife had the Jenever to drink and I had Tunnel Vision. The server was very knowledgable about both the food and the beer. Service was quick and efficient.
My wife had the Peach & Prosciutto Salad - Red Vein Sorrel, Indiana Peaches, Pistachios, Capriole Goat Cheese, La Quercia Prosciutto, Balsamic Vinaigrette and the soup of the day. I do not know what the ingredients of the soup were, but the one bite she let me try was excellent!
I had the duck breast special which was replacingt the Duck Confit for the evening. Medium rare sliced duck breast over a bed of polenta, topped with a confetti of vegetables and served with braised baby carrots with a veal demi glace (I believe). I may have gotten some of the ingredients wrong, but it was fantastic.
Josh came out to the table to say hi and talk with us for a few minutes. Everything from start to finish was spot on. If you haven't yet tried Bank Street Brewhouse, you need to make the trip to New Albany and check it out! Josh feel free to chime in and correct any ingredients that I may have mis-stated and Roger I was sorry to have miss you. Looking forward to next time.

It's worth the trip for the frites alone. Beware, one order will easily feed 3-4 people. You'll want to pony up for a few extra sauces at a quarter each -- it doesn't come with nearly enough to provide dipping for all the fries, if that's your thing. (it is mine)

Thanks for coming, and I'm happy you enjoyed it.

The past week was hectic, as we had a special lunchtime phot-op with NA's mayor on Friday, and preparations for Celtic Fest ... by the time you were dining on Friday night, I was passed out/asleep.

I'm just sorry I missed the duck ... but I've been subsisting on frites and Croque Madame, and doing quite a lot of daydreaming about Belgium.

Anyway, thanks again and one of these days we'll coincide.

My parents were in town yesterday, and I took them to BSB for lunch. The service was great and the food was delicious. My dad isn't really much of a beer drinker, but I did persuade him to try a sampler and he really enjoyed the Elector. I figured he'd like the hoppiest one available (unfortunately Hoptimus was out), and I'll probably get him over to Rich O's sometime to try a couple of IPA's.

As for the food itself, I'd never ordered the mussels before yesterday and I absolutely loved them. I had the preparation with ginger, and my dad had the saffron/tomato preparation. Both were well deserving of their laurels, but I think I might prefer the ginger mussels a bit more. If you haven't already done so, definitely go check it out.
