Best So. Indiana Dining.

by JustinHammond » Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:30 pm

What are my options for "non-chain" dining in the New Albany, Jeff, and Clarksville area? I know of Richo's and Bank St, and The Onion Teahouse, but what else?

I would really like to finally try Bank Street but it doesn't look like the serve a full menu around 5:00.

Mai's Thai on 10th St in Jeffersonville. Family-run and inexpensive.

I should have been more specific. I'm looking for a nice sit down type place. Mai Tai's is good as is La Rosita, but neither are nice sit down types.

You could try the Windsor in downtown New Albany.

With the weather cooling off a little, it might be a nice evening in the courtyard.

If you have not been to the Come Back Inn in Indiana,it is different than the Louisville location. I think it would qualify as "nice" in terms of a sit down joint. Nice family type place.

If you are looking for a nice sit down place, they are an excellent choice. I'll also second the Come Back Inn in Jeffersonville.

Come Back Inn ....get the Chicken Alfredo....but if you're in the mood for lighter fare (e.g., soup & sandwich) try "Perkfection" across the street from Come Back...excellent homemade soups and sandwiches...plus, a bakery and gourmet coffees

Strong agreement. With the sad demise of RockWall, this is one of the top places for fine dining on the Sunny Side. Also, how about Roger's new spot on Bank Street?

Hey, has anyone mentioned NABC's Bank Street Brewhouse? Now proudly serving 9, count them 9, NABC beers. The food is top notch as well. Lovely beer garden...

(Sorry. I couldn't resist. Second Windsor - awesome patio dining)

I have to agree with the recommendation of Perkfection for a soup and sandwich place. Gooood food and I love the atmosphere. Somehow, it always makes me think of the little cafes in Mendicino or Sonoma, especially those in Bodega or Bodega Bay. (An it's a lot cheaper than the airfare! :) )
