Fred, Niagara Falls, Canada, is pretty much of a tourist trap^H^H^H attraction, but Niagara Falls, NY has a nice little ethnic "Little Italy" with fine pizza and red-sauced Italian-American food at a dozen eateries or more.

Don't forget that this is also metro Buffalo, and wings don't get any better than in Buffalo ...

Fred, I have to agree with Robin's comments. I grew up in upstate New York and found it difficult to find good restaurants on the Canadian side. But on the American side and Buffalo side there are many good as well as unique restaurants.

On the Canadian side you can find some decent 'fast' food places for lunch or a quick snack but you're probably better off coming back to the American side for nice meals.

Don't forget under the new regulations you will need passports to enter Canada!

It's sort of a carnival these days. Very corporate on the Canadian side. The falls are beautiful but the Canadian sides offerings are not so good. RIpleys believe it or not, old timey photos...eh.

Toronto is not too far away and more than worth the trip if you have never been. The best coffee shop I have ever been to is there. It's called Rocket Fuel. Not only that it is one of the most diverse cities you will ever visit, sans New York and San Fran. St. Lawrence Market is fantastic on saturdays. I like Toronto.....a lot.

Actually they do check them on the way into Canada to be sure you've got one. Canada doesn't want to keep any Americans! LOL

It isn't a necessity to get in though. A month ago I crossed through Detroit/Windsor. I handed him my license and he asked me if I had a passport and I just said "yeah" and he just waved "ok" that he didnt need to see it then asked the regular questions. I guess he just figured that it would be my problem trying to get back in to the US without one.
