Choi's Korean Snack Bar is Open Again!

by Sohee Lacey » Tue Aug 11, 2009 5:36 pm

My family and I shop at Choi's every week for our Korean groceries and I mentioned to the Choi family that Louisville Hotbyte forum members talked about how much they enjoyed their snack bar when it was open a while back. She was so surprised that people were talking about it and was really happy to hear that there would be a demand. Now - it's open again! She asked me to write on the forum on their behalf so that everyone knows that it's back in business.

The menu includes:

Ddukbokki (my sister and I had some today and it was delicious)
Korean sushi rolls (choice of veggie, beef, tuna or cheese)
Wheat vermicelli noodles
Beef katsu
Tonkatsu
Roasted pork dumplings
Ramen noodles
Bibimbap

The snack bar is open from 11:30-7pm and is closed on Sundays. Choi's Snack Bar is located in the back section of the grocery store with 2 cozy tables & 4 chairs. I don't have the exact address but it's right next to the Thornton's on the corner of Lyndon and New Lagrange.

Happy eating!

Sohee,
Two questions.... first, is the ddukboki the spicy kind? Second, the wheat vermicelli noodles, is that naeng-myun?

The ddukbokki we had was pretty spicy. But I'm sure Mrs. Choi can adjust the spiciness for you since she makes it to order.

The wheat noodle dish was actually ssulongtang which is a brothy soup made from stewed bones and seasoned with mainly salt, scallions, and black pepper. It's really good!

I had the spicy ramen soup($3), don katsu($6), and roasted pork dumplings($4). All were delicious.
