looks like they're coming to the little strip shopping center off Cardinal Blvd by U of L. "Now hiring." Did we already know this?

Hello everyone,

I guess the "cat is out of the bag". Yes, we are opening another BaZo's in the cardinal shopping center down by U of L. on 4th and Cardinal. We just finished construction and we plan on having a soft opening in a couple of days so that we can work out the kinks in the operations before all the student classes start

I will keep you guys posted, as we get ready for our Grand Opening!

Thanks
Nira

Nira, I volunteer to be your official fish taco taster for the soft opening. Or earlier if you need me to stop by.

Our grand opening is scheduled for tomorrow at 12pm. We're offering all menu items at half price from 12 until 3pm for all Louisville Hotbyte Foodies - just be sure to wear your official Louisville Hotbytes t-shirt and flash the appropriate Hotbytes gang sign so we know who you are :P (alright, so we're offering the half-priced deal to everyone who walks through the door, but we'd still like to know who you are). We plan on being open till 9pm tomorrow night and will be open daily afterward.

Our new location is at the Cardinal Center by UofL near the corner of Fourth and Cardinal (it's the strip center with Gray's Bookstore, Bearno's, China Inn, a laundromat and convenience store). The phone number is 899-9746.

Sorry for the late notice, but I've been so busy training our new employees and trying to take care of all the last minute crises that I completely forgot to post an update on our opening... hope to see you tomorrow!

The menu on Menus of Louisville is a little outdated (it still has our Wallace Ave. address), but yes, the menu and prices are essentially the same. Louisville Diner (http://www.louisvillediner.com/menuDeta ... 354&page=2) has a more recent copy of our menu from our Dutchmans Lane location. Let me know if you need any other information.

Why not send a new menu to Menus of Louisville so they can update it. I hate looking at menus on websites and finding them outdated. If you want to do it, do it right.

We have sent the updated menu to Menus of Louisville multiple times and called and emailed them multiple times to update our information. The first time we contacted them, they said they would take care of it. Since then, they have not responded to any of our requests. We cannot force anyone to update our information on their website. You're welcome to try to get them to update our information if you want to try, but we've given up for now.

Just got back from Bazo's U of L. Fish taco was quite good. I'd like a bit more sauce and double lime, though. I should have just asked for another lime, 'cause I like lots. Anyway, the fish is fried to order, so it's all hot and crunchy. The Mexican rice is very fluffy which was nice. The chili lime chips are a nice touch. For fresh, fast food it was excellent. Fed two people with tip for $15. I think they'll do VERY well at this location. And we'll certainly be showing up again for lunch and fast dinners.

The staff there is very eager to please, with big smiles on their faces and proud of their new store.

Does anyone know if they will be participating in the mandatory food program that the students must buy? My daughter would be really happy to have Bazo's on her selection list.

Glad to know there's another place to eat in my general vicinity! I'll try it soon.

Unfortunately I don't think Bazo's or any other local restaurant can be part of the meal plan. A company called SODEXO has a contract for food services with the university so the meal plan money can only be used at SODEXO owned/operated restaurants and cafeterias. There was a news report about how the meal plan is going to hurt local businesses on Wave3 last year (still available online at http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.asp?s=9216957). It doesn't seem right that students at a public institution should be forced to participate in a mandatory meal plan and local businesses whose tax dollars support the university aren't allowed to participate. But it looks like the meal plan is hear to stay for now - hopefully someday there will be enough backlash that other businesses will be allowed to participate or it will be abolished completely (not likely). In the meantime, the only way out is to apply for a waiver (http://louisville.edu/dos/mealplan/waiverform.pdf) and claim you're vegan, broke, allergic to SODEXO, or your religion forbids you to eat their food (with supporting documentation, of course).
