tumbleweed on the river...

by Eric Holloman » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:44 pm

Just decided to go here earlier with a few friends... Couldn't have asked for better weather for the patio... The Server Mike was on point with everything... I had the tilapia fejita's and it was an excellent light meal paired with draft sam adams summer ale... Being a server myself I'm so jealous of their hand held systems for orders and credit cards... I think every busy server needs one...

They can afford those things for the servers but you eat with CHEAP die pressed flatware, eat off melamine plates and get served draft beer in clear plastic mugs....
For what they are charging to eat there these days would it hurt to at least have some cheap buffalo china? That's one of my biggest dissapointments with the "Weed" these days.

I was part of the serving team that tested the handhelds at the Outer Loop location in Spring of '05.

It was a horrible experience, and I left while the experiment was still ongoing. Testing a device that does not correspond to the layout of a restaurant makes no sense. Having said that, I'm sure they work great at a place the size of the River location. In fact, that location was designed with the handheld system in mind. I've always wanted to go back and see how the system works (when the system works properly), but I can't get to the point where I'm willing to step inside a Tumbleweed.

CHEAP is Tumbleweed's middle name. As in Tumble "Cheap" Weed.

Glad to hear someone had a good experience there. The last few we have had have been dismal, in part due to that absurd handheld system that seemed far more complicated than need be and actually made our server's job a thousand times more difficult than need be. Hopefully, for their sake, they have worked that out.
