I haven't been to Carly Rae's on Wednesdays but this sounds interesting and some of the best restaurants in town in this "little" contest, doesn't sound so little to me  Beer and cheese, I don't think I am going to miss this one!

I went to lunch with some coworkers here a couple of weeks ago and had a MOST unpleasant experience. Before we got our food we were visited no less than 3 times by a mouse. I want to emphasize Day time and people in dining room, yet still he came out. The last romp was witnessed by the waiter. We asked very quietly to be moved to a different area. He did move us and we saw him go point out the area to the manager. We finished our lunch with no visit from the manager. We then received the full bill. I have never experienced such poor service recovery! At the very least come by the table and say you are sorry! Finally we asked for the manager, 15 min later she came over. She was very defensive and proceded to tell us about her staffing issues for the next night and that she had been trying for 2 WEEKS to get an exterminator. GREAT! Needless to say, WON'T EVER GO BACK!!!!!
PS food was really bad too!

I have patronized Carly Rae's from its opening but might I add as a bar patron because as far as I am concerned some of the best company a bar can keep is kept by great bartenders, conversation and a definitively well stocked bar and the beginnings of a wonderful beer list (not to forget to mention one of my favorite patios in the city). Tonight will be my first beer tasting with them and though I am sad to hear your experience was not pleasant it won't deter me from that direction. I have actually heard of many good lunch stories from there, not to disuade anything from your own experience at all. :)

Hey Paul, Nick from primo won the overall contest. With 31 votes he won with a smithwicks and derby sage delight. The entries were two from Primo, two from Oak room,Bistro 301,,Carly Raes, and Brownings.I was impressed by the creativity of the beer and cheese combinations. Burton Baton,Rochefort 10,Guldan Draak,Birra Morretti, and Rare VOS were some of the beers. We went through around 500 crackers allowing everyone to sample them all at their leisure. We had a great beer tasting to go right along with the sampling of the beer cheese. It went so well I may have to make this a quarterly event. It was a great time and a pleasure to bring together two of my favorite things in the world beer and cheese.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

OMG, please do potato salad. That is the ultimate side for anything cooked on the grill during the summer in the Ville.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.
