Just got back from here a while ago......it was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Tacos - 1.65
Quesadilla med - 3.99 Large - 4.99
Tortas - 5.25
They have something like an open faced torta for about 3.00 I MIGHT be wrong on that price, but it is in that ballpark.

My husband and i had tacos de carne asada, a large quesadilla, and a side of rice for the babies!!!!!! Yay, i was so happy about that..... the side of rice was only 0.99, so that was great.

They gave us a sampling of the beans....very, very good, and very traditional. I loved them, so did my husband, and one of my boys, the other one was too busy enjoying himself there.

The rice was delicious. Traditional, fluffy, orangy-ish (is that a word? ) , with the perfect flavor. Both of my boys LOVED it!

The quesadilla was great as well, stuffed with carne asada, cheese, and the grilled onions i requested. My husband and i shared that.

Our tacos were AWESOME, the meat is nicely chopped, not too greasy, tender, with cilantro and diced onions, we ordered grilled onions as well. It was great!!!!!!

The salsas were perfect as well..... PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE SALSA JUAN! It was thick, but not runny, nice and hot, but still enjoyable. My husband preferred the red, i LOVE the green salsa. They are both very good.

We will be back with the other half of our children....lol... i am sure my girls will love it, and i will be going home with some pan dulce.....

Personally, i liked Juan's food better than the Gordita Trailer. I don't know, they are both very good, but Juan's just has a bit of something better. Not as greasy maybe? Meat more tender and chopped well.... We also liked that there is a place to sit inside.

We will definitely be back, actually this Sunday after church. i will be having some menudo, mmmmmmmmm.........home......

My only small gripe, was that they had no diet soda. I am diabetic so i can't have regular soda, but they were so sweet that they brought me a diet coke from next door, that was at their suggestion.......very impressive and accomadating.......it WILL NOT keep me away....

Edited to say: I sincerely apologize for my overuse of the word great....i shall now look at http://www.thesaurus.com.....

They also serve breakfast, and on weekends has special dishes like Menudo and goat barbacoa.

I've never been. The Gordita trailer is too close to my heart and too close to home to go any where else.
Sadly, they do not serve breakfast. This is something that has been lacking in Louisville for a very long time.
Mexican Breakfast.

What's on the menu for that?

I picked up a couple Chorizo Tacos toGo last nite and a Jarrito. The veggies and red sauce were placed in their own little plastic bags ; plus the tacos were wrapped in aluminum foil. By the time I got him it was all ready to eat. No fuss, no muss.

Stopped by for carry-out lunch today. Took home two asada tacos with grilled onions (FANTASTIC), one quesadilla (also with grilled onions and also FANTASTIC), elotes and the absolutely delectable frijoles charros. The elotes were more spicy than I've had before, and I really loved the heat! The frijoles charros have a savory flavor; they are on hold for dinner, along with half the elotes! The grilled onions were so very tasty ... I'm sure I will pay for it later, but it was worth every bite! As previously mentioned, I also like the meat being chopped as fine as it is ... easy for this brace-face to eat!

While I was waiting, Juan graciously gave me a sample of the frijoles charros and a sample of some type of milk (rice?). OMG! The milk was divine. I am going to have to find out exactly what it is because it would make a fine addition to my morning lattes!

The only down side was the omission of the cheese I ordered for the tacos. I noticed it once I got home; they were fine without, but having paid for the cheese, I would have like it to have been on the tacos.

If you are in the J'Town area (Galene / Stonybrook), please use whatever mode of transportation necessary and go visit Juan at his new digs. The food is FANTASTIC (is there an echo?)! I can only hope that he will have great success at his new location.

Horchata is a drink made of rice. How do you make it? Every Latino will give you a different answer.....lol.... But the same concept. It is basically rice, water, cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of sugar. It is a basic in Mexico, we even give it to babies to help their tummies. But for a baby it is much more basic and bland. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Was out this morning and went by for breakfast. Unfortunately, the kitchen doesn't get fired up until 10:00 am. Seemed a little late but Juan can't be there all day I suppose. Maybe another time.

If I had a suggestion for Juan, it would be to do away with serving sauce in the plastic baggies and go to plastic cups.

Do you mind the plastic baggies?

In Mexico, that is mostly how you get your salsa, in a little tied up plastic baggie.
