White Castle chocolate milkshake .....

by Becky M » Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:46 am

It's been a stressful week so i treated the kids to shakes. My husband said that White Castle shakes are pretty good, so we headed over there. I am not a shake person and this is the first shake i have bought in years, really.

So i am looking at the menu, a small shake is 1.79, a medium is 2.19, a large is 2.79. I estimate that the medium is the best deal, so i order three of them. I get to the window and geez, these things are BEHEMOTH!!!

I couldn't finish mine, one of my daughters couldn't finish it, and the other one tackled it, but she is gifted that way. The things are huge, 32 oz. and the large is 44 oz., we would have been okay with the small which is 21 oz. I was just surprised with the size of them, its crazy.

I thought about the thread that dealt with all the calories in the shakes, well jeez i am not surprised.

So I kind of lost track of that last thread...did we ever figure out why the difference in the calorie count (region to region) for White Castle shakes. I'd be really curious as to the answer to that question.

I wondered the same thing. They are also super-thick, it's just a massive cup of sweet sugar, and i say that in a not good way.

Funny thing, MY idea of a milkshake is what my mom would make us. Some milk, some bananas, a bit of sugar, and my mom always added an egg in there. They were sooo frothy and good!

We got some interesting theories on the other thread, but no definite answers. It shall remain a mystery. . .

My money is that it's just the mix that they use. When I worked at Rally's Corporate, I learned that different franchise areas used different mixes, some areas had different flavored shakes, etc., it was all up to the franchise owner. Not sure if that applies in WC's situation, but it's a possibility.

When I travel, I periodically stop at WC off the highways for car-food. I don't remember a single WC on the highway that serves shakes anymore! (I'm sure some forumite will direct me to one - mainly on 65 and/or 71 - and I haven't hit them all, but can't find one)

Two words (regarding their sizing):

"Supersize me"

Check out the movie by Spurlock, it is amazing.

White Castle has surprisingly good coffee, IMO.

Spurlock's was good but preferred Benson's Super High Me for comic relief. Bonus points for enjoying a WC Chocolate Shake while watching 8)
