It's not new, it's been around for a couple of years, and there's a HotBytes review on it. However, I got an Email from them the other day telling me that it has changed a lot since then, so I ought to go back.

Here's my review from March 2007. It was fairly new then.

I believe what is new about it is the chef. He was pulled from Le Relais. Someone correct me if I am wrong!
My good friend is the Wine Manager there at Liquor world, and I got the scoop from him.

Brix is around the corner from me, and I have been several times since it opened, most recently last week. Great wine, bottles are 50% off if you order food, at least on the Wednesday we were there. Bottle of wine and a great shared appetizer totaled $32. Its a great, simple first date kinda place. But I will be back as there is nothing like this near my house. And frankly the only other place that is similar is Jack's in St. Matthews.

I just wanted to post about our experience at Brix last night. We LOVED it! We started with the hummus appetizer plate and it's the best one I had anywhere. Very garlicy, flavorful roasted red pepper hummus, roasted garlic, kalamata olives, nice salty feta, pepperoncini, a pico de gallo that seems out of place but tastewise fits right in, all beautifully presented with warm pita bread. ($12)

For dinner, Jeff had the cajun tortellini with chicken. He said it was very good, spicy, but he prefers the cajun linguini at Baxter Station (but he did eat every bit and sopped up the sauce). ($16)

I had the spicy steak quesadilla. It was good, melty, tender bits of steak, rice and beans. But, it wasn't spicy at all, so I asked for hot sauce and doctor it myself. It came with a delicious guacamole, sour cream, a nice tomato corn salsa (I could have eaten a bowl of this) and lettuce. It too was a very nice presentation. ($12)

We had a bottle a Dona Paula Argentinian red that for the life of my now I can't remember ($36).

We will definitely go back, and our servers both told us about the 50% bottles on Wednesday nights.

There home page says they are the "premier gathering place in Louisville's east end." I never heard of them either. Same section of LaGrange as Rooties.

I need to go and check it out.

Mark,

It's in the same plaza as Krogers at Hwy146 and The Gene Snyder. Nice little place. We've been going there for some time on an irregular basis. Small and it can get a little crowded but the food is really good and the wine selection a cut above average...something of an upscale crowd most of the time. Another semi-precious stone found "outside the Watterson".

This is just down the street from me but I always seem to forget about it when I'm looking for someplace. If they've snagged the Le Relais chef I will definitely check them out. .

It's kind of an easy place to lose on your radar...kinda sits back off the road. Not sure about the chef. The one they've had for the past year or so...I was introduced to the guy but the name evades me at the moment (T.J. ?)...does/did a fine job. If they've got a new one I hope he doesn't reinvent the menu, the menu they've got now makes me very-very happy.
