I really love Flannigans and The Back Door! Flannigans wins since they serve Sweet Potato Fries with theirs!

This always brings up the question...sit down at a restaurant type burger/bar food type burger/or get it in a paper sack type burger. My go to for the burger in a paper sack...Ollies Trolley.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Last spring this subject came up and being a new resident I made an effort to try most of the places folks suggested...I think I tried five of the more popular places mentioned (I've missed the Granville Inn so far). To date the best burger I've tried in Louisville is without a doubt Turkey Joe's. IMHO they don't get the attention they deserve simply because they are located outside the Watterson in the "bloated" suburbs of the east side.

Flannigans is excellent, especially with the sweet potato fries.

Shady Lane Cafe makes a good burger, and it can reach "greatness" when they are having a burger special...

Jacks does a great burger. I also like the cheeseburgers at Kern's Corner, B-Town Rd and Trevillian Way. Great local hang-out.

This place is being discussed in the favorite gyros thread as well. Ive never even thought about getting a burger there, thanks for the heads up. We always eat in the back of the grocery(the Bosna-Mak) watching the international programs on the tv back there.

My favourite burger in town would definitely have to be Cumberland Brews Bison burgers! They cook it to order and they're nice and thick...a monstrous burger indeed under $10! Not only do they have good burgers, but good microbrews as well!

Suprisingly enough North end cafe has a great all natural burger. They get all of their meat from Bardstown KY. the bonus is you can get cooked any way that you like.

So many I haven't tried and so many good ones I have. Turkey Joes, Shady Lane (my daughter loves the greek burger special) and Lonnies are my most frequent.

On a side not I finally did something last week I've always wanted to do but could never get around too. I've eaten at a lot of great steakhouses and always thought how good the burgers must be. Well I was in Pasadena Ca at this old school place called Smitty's and had a filet burger. OMG.

Thank god for the KY Bison Company. I've enjoyed Bison burgers at Cumberland, BBC, Flannagan's and Brendan's. I like them more than beef burgers.
