Maggie's In J-town

by Charles Starcher » Tue Jul 14, 2009 8:22 pm

I have lived in J-town my whole life and love the area, but i feel there are not enought indies in J-town. I am glad to see we have Maggie's. I found this place about six months ago and try to go weekly. The food is good and the service is great :D I have grown fond of them and enjoy sitting at the bar or on the patio. They have a new cook and he knowns how to cook pasta correctly.Try one of his speacials. It's nice to have a place to just hang out. Would like to see them busier, so give them a try if you havn't. I do want to make clear that i don't work for them just feel they deserve a good shout out.

Where is Maggie's :?: I have never heard of it before your post, Charles.
When in doubt, add more wine.

Ditto on the location.

Also, what do you like there? What dishes do you suggest?

Not to answer for Charles, but I think Maggie's is worth a try as well. It is on Taylorsville Road. Coming from Hurstborne Lane towards Jefferstown, before Waterson Trail on the left. (Terrible directions, I know) Before the now defunt GoGo Gumbo's, old Ferd Grisanti. Great sweet potatoe fries. Good chicken salad, and other things, ok hot brown.

Head out from Stoneybrook on Taylorsville Rd; past LAC. You'll go under the viaduct and pass an apartment complex immediatly on your right. Then, there will be a pawn shop next to it; continue driving until , on your left , you see Maggies in a strip on a hill . If you've hit the old J-Gumbo's , then you've gone too far. It's almost across the street from J-Town Mall Of Vendors.

I also highly recommend Maggie's. Its also a good place to watch the game, since they have several flat screens and also have in-booth flat screens. The interior is beautiful and very nicely done. Also a good place to take your special someone, though I have only been for lunch.

Definitely worth your time. And don't forget to try the sweet potato french fries!

It's just where they said it is. Everyone beat me to a reply. I love the sweat poatoe fries and the chicken cakes. I am allergic to crab and this has become the next best thing. Even attempted to make them at home ounce. They have a large martini list and cold beer 8)
