Anoosh & Brownings

Anoosh & Brownings

It’s taken me a month to post this because I finally have the time to sit down and reflect. I wanted to thank Anoosh and his staff at Brownings for a wonderful experience when I visited home. My friend Mel and I had not seen each other in a very long time and after a 6 hour drive from Memphis I just wanted to relax and catch up. Knowing that Brownings had just reopened and I wanted to go downtown I knew that was exactly where I wanted to go. (We had to park on Market and it was kind of sad walking past Primo)

As this is more of a thank you and not going into too much detail on menu items, it was the most welcoming sight walking through the doors. We were greeted by a warm smile and prompt seating on the patio and as we were being led to our table I glanced around one more time inside, seeing a packed bar with no empty table in sight made me smile. I then saw Anoosh walking toward us with arms outstretched and a hug asking how I was doing and what brought me into town and then introduced me to the lovely Ms. Paula Barmore. The energy between those two and seeing the buzz throughout the restaurant let me know I made the right decision to come in and support the newly re-opened Brownings. We chatted a bit about my job in the casino marketing world and my hunt for a job back in Louisville during this downturn in the economy and how I missed the restaurant industry; as always Anoosh offered positive encouragement and advice which I really needed to hear. After we were seated we elected to have a light meal. Mel chose the Smoked Chicken Wrap which was generously filled with grilled chicken, hummus, avocado, lettuce and tomato and as usual her beverage of choice bud light but the amusement of having a choice of bottle or can just topped the cake. She always says “I know classy right?” I chose the Grilled Portobello Wrap which had a combination of sweet/tangy marinated sliced Portobello, goat cheese, baby spinach and tomatoes. Going against the grain of eating lighter fare I chose to drink the Blacksmith Porter which I knew would be like dessert by the time I finished eating. Our server was gracious and prompt and one step ahead of us when we needed anything. We both finished our meal very satisfied with our decisions. Upon our departure we bumped into so many people we knew it almost was like a mini-reunion which is why I love Louisville venues so much.

Two days later I returned to Brownings for lunch and a place that I could work on my computer because Anoosh told me they offered wi-fi. It is the perfect atmosphere for business meetings. I ordered the creamy lobster bisque (a favorite of mine) and a side of fruit which was the perfect lunch. My server was attentive but also gave me space to work which I greatly appreciated. As I was leaving, Anoosh again gave me a big hug remembering our conversation from two nights before and told me he would keep an ear to the ground for anything that would eventually help bring me back to Louisville. In the years I have known him, his always generous outpouring of hospitality and appreciation to those around him is enormous. So this is a THANK YOU to Anoosh & Brownings and a wish for continued success!

Support local business even if it is from afar! :D

So, is Anoosh just very friendly or are you just great to hug? Or both? :?

Come back soon - Memphis is the pits.

I have to agree with Allison's post. I had the pleasure of dining with Anoosh and Paula last night, and I can tell how excited they are about Browning's. And they should be. Annosh has transformed the passion he has for food into one of the great downtown locations. It is relaxing, with great craft beer and just as appetising food. Some of my friends and I have met there on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Congratulations to Paula and Anoosh for reviving Browning's :?:
