New Wine Bar in Seelbach

by Ashley McClane » Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:59 pm

Many of you may be well aware that the Seelbach already has one of the 50 Best Bars in the World according to The Independent (London,UK) - the Old Seelbach Bar.

Now we've taken it a step further and have created a comfortable lounge and wine bar on the mezzanine level, just outside of The Oakroom. We now have new spacious couches to complement our existing leather high-backs. In addition, the wine bar offers the same personal attention from the Oakroom sommelier and mixologist and continues to uphold the same standards for which the Oakroom is known - but in a more relaxed, casual atmosphere. As always we have an incredible selection of bourbon, rare scotches, and have a fully stocked back bar and are able to mix anything your heart desires.
To complement, Chef Bobby Benjamin has created an exciting menu of small plates featuring some of the same inventive cuisine from the dining room menu - at more recession-minded prices.

The Oakroom Sommelier will hold wine tastings every day from 5pm-7pm for $10-$15 per person. This includes a flight of 4-5 wines, 2 oz pours of each. This week's theme is "Tour de France."

The Oakroom and our new wine bar has a list of over 1500 selections, and we are now offering 500 of those selections at HALF PRICE through the end of the summer. And yes, if you would like to move into the Oakroom for dinner, those same wines are half price.
Free valet parking is included for all wine bar patrons, as well as Oakroom patrons.

Sounds like the wine bar is exactly where my father's office was in the 70's when he was food and wine director there. I always get nostalgic when I'm in the Seelbach. Good luck with the Wine Bar.

Wow. I had no idea the Ante room was ever used as an office! That's cool to know.

Ashley that sounds awsome. Congratulations! Will your hours be the same as the Oakroom or will the
Ante stay open later?

We'll do the $15 tastings from 5pm-7pm and then we close at 10pm. But hey, if we start getting busier, I will be more than happy to extend those hours.
Louisville, it's up to you!
