Forecastle Fest is on the Belvedere - it fills up the whole thing and spills over into the pool area of the Galt House, with multple stages set up. I went last year, and its tons of fun, though unfortunately is seems that year in and year out it takes place on one of the hottest weekends of the year.
Whether you're interested depends on your music tastes. Early evening on Friday and then during the afternoon and early evening Saturday and Sunday, more local/smaller/less well known bands play. The headliners play at night. This year the "bigger bands" are Widespread Panic, the Black Crowes, and the Black Keys, followed by Zappa Plays Zappa, Umphrey's McGee, Yonder Mountain String Band, and the Avett Brothers. Other somewhat known bands, especially around here, include Arnett Hollow, Backyard Tire Fire, and The Instruction. The music tends towards the jam-band realm, but each year that becomes less and less true, with more progressive bands like The Instruction, etc. There is also a good smattering of bluegrass, hip-hop, and lots of other genres, and very good DJs.
In addition to music, many local and national activism groups have booths set up (think OVCE, 8664, etc.), and there are a lot of vendor booths as well. You should check it out - this started 8 years ago as a 3 or 4 local band festival in Tyler Park, and has swelled immensley. It's definitely the largest homegrown music festival in the state, and probably in the area, with only Bonnaroo in Tennessee being larger (much larger).
Unfortunately, I can't make it this year even though the lineup is very impressive. There will be tens of thousands of people likely, and like I said, it's a lot of fun if you like the music and can bear the sweltering heat.

Also, is Lebowski Fest this weekend? That was poor planning to put Forecastle and Lebowski on the same weekend, as the crowds for both overlap very much.
