Any local restaurants using Twitter?

by Robin Garr » Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:22 am

Weird, I thought I posted this ... maybe I hit the wrong forum.

Anyway, to repeat: I know a lot of you are using Facebook pages or personas to get word about your restaurants around, but is anyone Tweeting on Twitter, to get the message out or to take comments from customers?

Let me know, ASAP, by reply here or Email to Robingarr@gmail.com ... There may be a publicity opportunity for anyone who's doing this.

I haven't come across very many Louisville restaurant sites on Twitter, here are a couple:

Qdoba - http://twitter.com/qdobalouisville
Morton's - http://twitter.com/Mortons_Lou

derbycitycoffee (not specific to one restaurant) - http://twitter.com/derbycitycoffee

You can only communicate so much in the 140 character limit, but it does present some unique possibilities.

I know Lilly's does. Brad Jennings, the new GM there, has been making good use of it too.

Not a restaurant, and not exactly Louisville, but we are tweeting.

I'm a little surprised the other local breweries aren't using Twitter. :?

Like Jeremy said in his post, not a restaurant, but Keg Liquors has a Twitter account.... http://twitter.com/KegLiquors . I use it to get new products and events out, like I do with Facebook and MySpace. Since people subscribe to the group, I don't feel bad at all with all the promotional things I do with it.

I know New Albanian set one up.... I have it buried in an email somewhere.

:D Here at Gelato Gilberto we have just started a Twitter account. We invite all of our customers, and hopefully future customers, to become followors and therefore know what we have on at the shop. Since we make our gelato everyday we don't really have a set menu. We hope to use Twitter to let people know, especially those who need to drive a long way to get to us, what flavors are available. We won't tweet everyday, but we will try to sing out twice a week or so. We hope this is helpful and not too intrusive to our customers. If interested, people jump in and become a Gelato Gilberto follower. Thanks again for all your support! Justin

I am following qdobalouisville and they have been great about using it to get the word out. They frequently have giveaways if people retweet or mention them in their status.

NABC's Bank Street Brewhouse: @bsbbh

I haven't done a very good job with it yet, updates on the new brewery set-up.

I tweet therefore I am.

http://www.twitter.com/scotthack

As far as local places that are tweeting. DCE is one of the first places I was following, but I stopped after I tried to get a question or two answered via twitter and didn't get a response.

BoomBozz Pizza is another one that has been at it a while...
