Eating out for Leukemia research

by Jeremy J » Thu Jul 02, 2009 11:05 am

Per Robin's permission, I offer you fine folks this golden opportunity:

I am running the San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon for Team In Training, a wonderful BBB accredited charity that benefits Leukemia (and other blood cancers) Research and Treatment. In conjunction with the running, I am involved in a lot of fundraising for the organization. One of the things we're doing is to team up with local and chain restaurants and have a Leukemia Fundraising night. Essentially, me and some of my friends in the program hand out certificates and ask for friends and associates to please eat at this restaurant on a certain night and 20% of their check will go directly to the research. We get to raise some funds, and the restaurant gets a little extra pop on a potentially slow night.

The first such evening is on Tuesday July 14th at California Pizza Kitchen from 4-10pm. I'm attaching a PDF file at the end of this post, so if you're interested, print it out, and head into CPK on 7/14. Be sure to give the Certificate to your server as you're ordering, and 20% of your meal will go to a really great charity!

I would like to hook up with more local places on this, so any restauranteurs interested in doing something similar should please PM or email me!

Additionally, those who can't make it out, or would rather just donate directly, you can check out my personal donation page HERE. I would really appreciate any and all help or suggestions. Also- please feel free to PM me with any questions or just ask within this thread, I'll be checking back periodically.

Thanks so much for any and all help! And thanks to Robin for allowing me to post this thread!

I have also done this at Sweet Surrender for Team in Training and other organizations. Being a Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is one of my personal causes.

I would definitely be interested in doing this again. Last fall, we raised about $600 for the Williams Syndrome Association. I wanted to do a fundraiser in April, but couldn't find a good time. I'm not sure when your race is, but we might be able to do something sometime in August.
