What was on the menu?.....

by Becky M » Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:29 pm

Well as we all love food i am wondering what everyone celebrated with today. We had:

Ribs
Greens (collard and kale)
Hot water cornbread
Potato Salad
Grilled corn
Burgers, hotdogs, sausage

The greens and hot water cornbread are my husband's comfort food so those were his special requests. I was up till 4 am last night cleaning greens and preparing them, then put them on at that time. They were awesome today.

So what did you have?

It was dad's choice, and he selected Danny Mac's!

We had the baked speghetti, a philly cheesesteak sandwich, 3 pizza's (veggies, margherita, and sausage and onions) and everyting was good. the nmargherita pizza crust was not as crispy as I like, but my sis "crisped" it up for me in a frying pan. The cheesesteak was great as usual and the baked speghetti was very good too.

We provided a very nice salad and watermelon / strawberries and cheese bars for dessert.

Hope everyone had a nice father's day! DD

We waited until the last minute, once again, so we Outbacked it. With call-ahead seating, we only waited about 15 minutes although they were a full house. Everything was good except my sis-in-law's filet was over-cooked and my fries were kind of soggy burnt.

We fed the hungry in New Albany on Sunday. I think the headcount was about 85 and we did 130 servings of meal loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and cole slaw. Dessert was pastries donated by Panera. I made up about 40 pounds of ground chuck into meatloafs. I've never made coleslaw in my life (don't care for it) but I faked my way through it and everybody said it was excellent. We ran out of everything except coleslaw; I guess I just made too much.

Glad I only have to do this every other month. Makes me have a lot of respect for all the men and women who do it every day.

Shrimp and grits. Porterhouse steak grilled "Pittsburgh" style over charcoal. Blue Dog breads.

No Stinkin' Veggies
