Anthony Bourdain in Louisville

According to Kris Kimel on the Facebook Idea Festival page, Anthony Bourdain will be on the bill. I guess he may not be doing a show on Louisville, but he'll be in town!

Very cool if that's the case !( it's not made it onto their website yet). The Idea Festival schedule is not published yet, but discounted all access tickets to the Festival go on sale on Thursday.

Ken, does facebook say what he's doing? ( I'm not a member) I'm wondering if he's speaking or possibly participating in the street dinner party they've done in the past. Now wouldn't THAT be something....

There is a discussion wall on Idea Festival's Facebook page. On June 11, Kris Kimel, "Mr. Idea Festival," posted this: "Just in...Anthony Bourdain at 2009 IF." Since it's Kimel, it pretty much has to be true. As for topic or venue or kind of participation... who knows?

I'm looking forward to Thursday. I assume the schedule will be posted when tickets go on sale. To me IF is THE premier event in Louisville. I did All Access last year and intend to do so this year.

Maybe Bourdain will just be running the concession stand. That'll be fine.

Yes, Anthony Bourdain will be here Friday evening at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

We have some great foodie events this year that I think many on the board will want to participate.

First, we are having the IF Main Course on Tuesday, September 22. It is our dinner that we have down the middle of Main Street. We partner with Brown Forman, Corbett's, and Humana to make it an evening you won't forget. It was a great time last year.

Then on Thursday evening, September 24, we have the Taste of Innovation, where 32 local restaurants and beverage companies get to showcase what is unique in their restaurants. Most of the dishes are not on the menu and sure to delight your palette.

I hope you all can join us for these events.

I can vouch for the Taste of Innovation event- I've been twice and thought it was one of the best food tasting events in town- and the tickets were very reasonable.

I heard from folks who attended that the IF Main Course (Dinner on Main) was fantastic! I'm hoping once ticket prices are posted that our budget will allow us to attend this year.

Justin,

Yes, but the really great thing about IF is that unlike most conferences, you can buy tickets to individual speakers- you don't have to buy an all access pass- and traditionally a number of them have been free.

Can't wait to see the program- thanks for the advance warning that it's out!

I think the "Marsha" factor is the real reason he is coming to Louisville...

Actually I'd think there is a good possibility that Marsha's campaign is partially responsible. No insider info, but from a marketing perspective "top of mind" recognition is critical. I'd posit that Marsha's Campaign made Anthony and his folks aware that Louisville's a serious foodie experience- so when approached to participate he was more inclined/didn't say no. :D

Congrats Marsha!
