Yes, I did get fired from Lou Lou today. But don't panic!

by Marsha L. » Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:15 pm

I am sorry to tell you all that I got fired from Lou Lou today. I had a difference of opinion with management, and of course both parties feel they are in the right. I want to be clear: I still love and support Cafe Lou Lou. They are a great, fun restaurant that proves you can still be successful - even in this economy! - if you have a flexible, nimble business plan. Please don't worry on my behalf - I'm sure I'll land on my feet somewhere.

What I'd love to ask is that fans of my desserts go to either Lou Lou location this weekend and buy the hell out of my desserts as a show of solidarity. Even just as take-out! And if you're so inclined, express your sorrow that you won't be able to get them there anymore. But most of all, keep going back to Lou Lou. They deserve your support.

I will be looking for a new job after I enjoy my first weekend off in two years! Please don't fret. I don't wish them any ill will, and neither should you.

Thanks in advance for your support, I know you guys love me. Viva la Cafe Lou Lou! I'll remember my time there fondly.

Well, that would be sweet. I'm afraid that years of student loans and working in restaurants has rendered my credit questionable, bank-wise (I used to work at a bank as a loan officer! So I know!) - but I wouldn't look askance at an investor angel or two.

Thanks for the props, though, Roger and Michelle.

Also, I should point out that Clay's a member of this forum, and he's totally welcome to weigh in if he feels he wants to. I seriously don't think he'd have anything bad to say about me.

Wow. This is quite a surprise. Far as I am concerned Marsha is (was) part of the heart and soul of Lou Lou's! This is out of left field for me! Sorry to hear about it Marsha, but with your level of talent, you will be back in the business in no time! I am also very pleased to see that the break was not malevolent. It's never a good thing when things like this go bad.

Maybe this is your opportunity to explore your obvious food/beverage/industry journalistic talents???

Hang in there girlfriend!

Thanks, Ronnie. That is what I fervently intend to do. Need any desserts at your place?

You know desserts are always welcome at my place...oh you were talking about the restaurant... :D

Hey, could you write an article about how napkins cost us restaurant managers real money and when customers take a stack to their table and don't use them we watch our profits go into the bin?

You'll be fine, my dear, I'm sure of it!

That's a good idea for a column, Ronnie! At casual restaurants, they also waste sauce packets and sweetener packets. We're not supposed to reclaim that stuff after it's been on a table. Everyone should be aware of this. I certainly am! Either they have to throw it away, or they restock that stuff, which is taboo, health department-wise. That stuff costs a lot of money.

Yo Marsha,

Sorry to hear you won't be a fixture at Lou-Lou any longer. <sigh> but ya know sometimes when one door closes, another one opens. I'm betting this will be the case for you. Enjoy your time off and let us know when the next gig comes along.

As I said earlier on facebook, your lemon cake was a big reason Mike & I would swing by Lou Lou for dinner. On the subject of your lovely cake, my mom is planning my baby shower for late August & your cake is a MUST have on her menu! Mike & I are anxiously awaiting the announcement of your next move. Surely it will be onward & upward! Again - good luck to you!!!

Marsha

I just heard the news and am really sorry. I will keep my ear to the ground and please utilize us as references and in any other capacity that we can do to help. Whatever the circumstances, this sucks...

Marsha, we'll certainly miss having your desserts during our visits to Lou Lou! I'm sure many others feel the same, you had become a real part of the experience there and hopefully Clay will miss you as much as we all will. I'm sure with your skills and originality you'll end up someplace very soon, please let us know so we can go back to eating your desserts!
