The Wine Rack, John Johnson's neighborhood wine shop that's been next door to Heine Bros. Coffee on Frankfort Avenue for several years, has moved into new quarters about a block west, between Oscar's Hardware and Dark Star, a neighborhood pub.We dropped in and saw John today, and the place looks GREAT! He's completely renovated the interior with hardwood and stylish decor and lighting, expanded the wine collection a bit and the beer selection substantially. He expects to have formal tastings in the pretty, shady courtyard to the west of the building, hopes to expand the food selection, and is arranging to have occasional farmers' market days in the courtyard space.
I'm glad John is not leaving the neighborhood - he's still within walking distance of the HotBytes mothership.
This move definitely kicks up The Wine Rack, already a good neighborhood wine shop, into the upper tier of local beverage retailers.
