A "different beer" seems appropriate, but, er, which ones?

I know at least one Louisville wholesaler who'd be delighted with such a lineup. It might be the same one who took offense to my comments in LEO last year. Just try to find a sense of humor at the A-B bunker at their new headquarters in Belgium. You won't.

But seriously ... I looked on the web site mentioned in the Limestone release as well as the official restaurant site, and neither place did I see any indication of the beers being paired.

But, gently: Isn't that much of the point in having a beer dinner, i.e., knowing the pairings?

Yeah, but what if Dad likes beer but his children or wife does not. And they see this advertisement and think, "that's perfect for dad." Only dad would care about the pairings, and if it's a surprise gift, well part of the surprise will be finding out what the pairings are when he gets to dinner.

Roger, I completely agree with you, but don't think the knowledge you want is probably the same knowledge many people making reservations will want or need. For many, it's probably a simple equation:

Dad + Dinner + Beer = Happiness.

Now, if it does turn out to be the Bud 5-pack, there might be a little less happiness.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

My guess is they haven't paired the beers yet, or they surely would have included that info in the press release.

I'll bet they'll come along with that info a wee bit later, but in the meantime they wanted people to know the dinner was happening so they could make plans and reservations accordingly. Every wine or beer dinner I've been involved in, we wrote the menu first and then paired dishes with the appropriate beverages.

This:

Dad will also receive a complimentary menu packet detailing the recipes for the
marinades, rubs, and dressings served during the meal for his grilling adventures
the rest of the summer.

is a stroke of genius, IMO.
