Sake Blue may be my new favorite restaurant

by Adam Smith » Mon Jun 08, 2009 11:15 am

Went to a matinee at Tinseltown Saturday afternoon with a friend, afterwards we wanted some good food, but nothing heavy and sushi was an obvious choice. We hopped on the Gene Snyder and decided to try out Sake Blue since it was on the way home anyway... what a great idea.

First of all, the design and layout of the restaurant was really cool and we were welcomed and seated immediately. We sat at the sushi bar, chefs were very nice and attentive as was our waitress. Attentive without being "too" attentive if that makes sense. We ate light, both having miso soup and cold sake. I got the Alaska roll and Toro(tuna belly) and he got salmon rolls. I can honestly say that the miso was among the best I've had and the sushi was the best I've ever had. For such a nice place with such a high quality product, our bill was right around $40 plus a $10 tip. Overall wonderful experience, I'll definitely be back to try more sushi items and definitely some teppanyaki items.

I'm seriously thinking about attending the offline next Monday but I'm a bit of a 3rd shift hermit, getting up and out during daylight hours on a Monday may be a bit rough. If you haven't been to Sake Blue yet, GO!!!

Did I hear "favorite restaurant" being used to describe a restaurant just a hair shy of South of the Snyder? Oh, la, la.........A word out there for the restauranteurs of the area: anyone willing to sell moderate-priced carryout gyros, falafel, etc., in the plaza at the Glenmary entrance will make a good living. There are many more afluent, working families in the area that one may think who settle for Chinese, Subway, and Pizza Hut after a hard days work because of a lack of better choices. Just drive by Aspen Creek on any given evening and the place looks more like an Olive Garden parking lot spilling over from the crowd.

I know! I live 5 minutes from Sake Blue and have very few choices for dinning out in the relative area. People would LOVE to have more general choices, not chain, available in the area. And, I don't mind chains. I DO know there is an area for eats in this area.
