Best Pita Bread?

by Melissa Richards-Person » Sun Jun 07, 2009 7:01 am

Believe it or not, in Toledo OH, where Tom and I are from, they have a large Lebanese community, and as such a Lebanese bakery called Tiger bakery, where they make fantastic fresh Pita bread. I've never had anything that comes close.

Any suggestions on where I might buy fresh, homemade Pita in town?

I agree with the others. Al Watan is the pita bakery to beat. Shiraz for lavash.

I ordered carryout from Zaytun on Friday. While I loved the bread that came with my hummus, I wasn't particularly fond of the bread that my gyro was served on. Overall, the food was great though. The red pepper sauce that you can order with the gyro is so delicious and waaaaay spicy!

I second the Lavash from Shiraz.

Thanks everyone for the Alwatan reco! I recipe I want to make calls for grilled pita bread, and the last thing I want to do is grill the cardboard that passes for Pita in most stores!
