Cheap food for a group of teens

by Kris Billiter » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:18 pm

Often on Wednesday nights I feed my youth group pizza. It's quick, cheap, etc. But I'm sick of it. We are downtown and I was wondering if you fine folks had any creative ideas. Feel free to chime in. Thanks!

This may be a bit far away, but Shah's Mongolian Grill near U of L has $5 1 meat and unlimited vegetable entrees. You could in theory pick up several of those and dump them into bowls of your own and serve it buffet style. A single one of their entrees is roughly equivalent to 2 normal meals (provided you put in an assortment of veggies), so you could probably feed them for around 2.50 to $3 a head.

Are you looking to eat at the restaurant or get take-out from somewhere?

If takeout, fried chicken might not be a bad option cost wise. A bucket from somewhere and a few sides shouldn't be too bad. Though this wouldn't be the healthiest option.

What about Safier's on 4th Street? Middle-eastern and reasonably priced.

I bet your group would love the 4th St location of J Gumbo's too.
