Starbucks Venti Double Insulated Mug...

by Sarita C » Tue Jun 02, 2009 5:47 pm

A dear friend just gave me one and I'm in love. I only go to Starbucks as a treat but this thing is great!
It looks like a clear Starbuck's cup but it keeps my iced tea really cold. Love it, love it, love it! The Highland's Kroger had some and I picked up two to give as gifts.

I saw this at the Starbucks kiosk in Mall St. Matthews. I wanted it bad. I thought I could make my own iced chai at home and feel like I bought it somewhere. I think it's a psychological thing about things tasting better when you buy them out? It seemed a little pricey though.

I guess you could put a sticker or something over the starbucks logo.

Just kidding. I do support starbucks. However, I encourage coffee drinkers to buy local!!! We roast all of our coffees on premises for example.

Starbucks, and some others who pretend to be "local," roast in distant states and then ship their coffee in. Not good for our local economy, not good for the environment, not good for freshness or quality.

Cheers....

Not sure that it's the same thing, but Bed, Bath & Beyond selld an entire line of clear double-insulated glasses/mugs. Different sizes with different graphics choices ( horses, Cards, etc). They work really well to keep cold drinks cold - and no Starbucks logo... :D

Campbell's Gourmet Cottage has them too! They are Tervis Tumblers and come in 3 sizes as well as mugs. They have different designs, plain, UL or Uk or can be custom ordered with initials, etc. They come with a lifetime guarantee!

Check them out sometime! :D

Do they have lids?

I think it really is just a physchological thing that it looks just like a plastic cup that you get the cold coffee drinks in, so it would seem like a treat I got out. Am I the only crazy one who thinks this way?

I do wish a local place would sell them with their logo on it...but haven't seen it yet?

The Tervis Tumblers have lids and straws that are sold seperately.

Holey Moley. I just looked at those tumblers on Ebay. They're asking $20-$50 each.

The Tervis one's are like $12-18 each plus lids if you want them.

I'm going a step further: With all the excellent local roasters in Louisville, I see no need to support an international mega-corporation. I loved Starbucks when I discovered it as a local company in Seattle in the late '80s. It has changed.

Not to hijack your thread to a different local coffee company, Nimbus, but I know Heine Bros. sells insulated logo mugs. I'm not sure whether it's the kind Deb is talking about, though.

I will buy 5 refillable mugs, but I won't spend 5X the full amount amount of money on one really awesome mug. They're like sunglasses for me - I now they will lose me soon. I try to keep up, but they don't! That said, I do give things like this as a gift, like to my momma ~ I gave her one of those special aluminum water bottles from Rainbow Blossom for mother's day last year and she still has it because she's a much better person than I. Good to know Campbell's has this product, because I was genuinely bummed when I saw a Starbuck's model recently because it was, in fact, a Starbuck's model... and it was neat. Interesting topic. I would spend spend thirty dollars on it if it had a local logo. (Of course I would also be like, "MOM! You like it? It wasn't cheap *batting eyes* but it came from..." Support our local coffees, they support us.
