CJ grants friendly 2 1/2 stars to Pig City BBQ

by Robin Garr » Sat May 12, 2007 10:14 am

Marty devotes 630 words - a fair bit more than he allocated to the Brown Hotel's English Grill last week - to a warm, friendly review of Pig City BBQ in Middletown that ultimately comes down to a 2 1/2-star rating. I think he pretty much calls it when he says "If the barbecue lacks the idiosyncratic uniqueness that makes for greatness, the meats were nevertheless very good." I like Pig City too, but I don't think I'd put it at No. 1 in my list of local barbecue joints.

I just ate at Pig City the other day. I thought it was quite tasty! The only problem was that the carry out window is not marked as such, and my mom and I had assumed that we ordered there even though we were eating in. There was not any sign that said to be seated first. The woman at the window also did not confirm that we wanted carryout, and she ran the charge card before we got the chance to order what we wanted to drink. We also had to ask for sweetener for tea and ask for more silverware, but after all that it proved to be a very good and filling meal.
