Cincinnati Sunday Dining

by Bill Veneman » Fri May 11, 2007 10:15 am

(I've posted this on the Cincinnati board, but thought I'd do double duty here as well)

Will be going up to Cincinnati for the Ault Park Car Show next month (my annual trek) and am wanting to find a wonderful place to dine while I'm there. What I usually do is get the the show when the gates open, wonder around and admire the cars and exhibits, then about 1 or so, head out and find something wonderful to eat. Last year, I got lost trying to find the suggested destination, and wound up at PF Changs (heck, I can do that in Louisville). This year, I have a navagation system. I'm set. Also, how far is Jungle Jim's for that area? I may try to kill 2 birds with one stone.
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

Jungle Jim's is on the northwest side of the Cincy Metro area.

Mapquest.com says 32 minutes, 21.46 miles.

Click for Mapquest.com directions from Ault park to Jungle Jim's

In my experience, the one time i've been to Jungle Jim's... leaving from the Newport Aquarium, it took me well over 30 minutes, closer to 45 minutes... largely due to traffic (at about 3-4pm on a Monday)

A word of advice, when you get off the exit on to dixie; it's gonna seem like you've had to have drove way too long. (i thought at one point i was lost, cause it seemed like i had drove farther than the directions said i was supposed to.)

You can't miss it on the right side of the road though.

That Nav system would have been handy.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

I am a cinncy neophyte, but I think Ault Park is very close to Mt. Lookout. If so, go to the square where you will have many good dining options at every price point. personally, I love the burgers at Zips. But there is Thai, sushi, pizza, UDF ice cream, and even some upscale places like Nectar and Aqua.

Jungle Jim's is up 75 to 275 west, about a 25 minute drive.

I really enjoy Pappadeaux for cajun seafood in Cincinnati. I grew up with the restaurant in Houston and was glad to see it open in Cincinnati. You can look at the menu at http://www.pappadeaux.com Don't let the prices scare you, the portions are huge and can be easily shared.

For what it's worth, I happen to be a big fan of Burbanks up by the Sharonsville exit. I really enjoy their ribs and they have wonderful sweet corn bread. It's a little bit funky----sort of the atmosphere of a subdued Lynn's Paradise Cafe with an entirely different cuisine. Good barbecue.
