Two thoughts come to mind:

1. Awesome. Should make for a fun evening.

2. I was planning to go to the Boombozz Taproom for a slightly late (post-happy hour) dinner, potentially with a large group. I'm thinking that might be out of the question now. . .

Ellen,

No one checks the parking at Mid-City Mall. You'll be fine if you choose to park there. You can also park along Bardstown Rd. after 6pm (as long as it is a parking permitted spot).

Wow, that sounds like a great time. I'm glad I hadn't made any plans tonight, because I'll probably have to come out to this now.

Sorry that people had a bad experience at Tony Boombazz. We ended our evening there, outside, with a couple of APAs. (Had a mini reunion with one of the managers who I had worked with many decades ago in another local restaurant!)

Before that, we had been at Flanagans, sitting outside again, with a couple of APAs. My grandparents bought a house on Morton back in 1941+, so it's kinda wierd to sit there and reminisce - drinking beer. (Back then it was comics, bologna, and licorise, and dime stores and junk shops.)

(We parked on a side street near the Bristol, dined at a nearby restaurant, walked to Flanagans, passed up our car and walked down to Tony Boombozz, then back to our car. Great night for walking and people watching. Hated to leave and go back to suburbia.)

For dinner though, our experience was disappointing.

Two servers kept coming by our table - sitting outside again - telling us how great the food was and how we will love this place. Constantly.

We ordered a bottle of wine $20+ and a big appetizer $12+. We waited to see how much we would want to eat next. We wanted to keep our appetizer on the table, but with such a small table, we opted for my husband to order the lasagna only and I would have a bite because I was getting full. Our server told us there would be a charge for sharing. Now I can see if we sat down and had water/cokes and then said we wanted to share a meal but we already had a $30+ tab in a moderately priced restaurant. (Very nice young man as our server.)

The constant stopping at our table, asking about our meal by these other servers, led me to suggest that it was disappointing to charge us for sharing an entree when we already had a $30+ tab. (I don't believe there wasn't anything on the menu about sharing - we still had our menus at that point.) They spoke to the chef and said they would make an adjustment in this type of situation.

My husband received his entree. (I guess we were being punished because he didn't get the salad that comes with all entrees and pastas.) One bite great - his opinion. I didn't taste. Next bite, cold. They had to reheat.

We didn't want dessert to make up for the evening. We were full and wanted to just get out of there.

We asked for a to go box. (They did take $5 off the meal. We had spent close to $50 with one entree. So, no we won't go back even though the wine was wonderful, the antipasto, the bread, and probably the entree. We should stick to sitting at bars. We can share a meal. Eat and drink as much or as little as we want.

Even though it should have been a lovely little dining spot, we just wanted to get the h*** out of there. Oh well. We were trying to find a substitute for our favorite Italian restaurant that closed. Also, our daughter and her husband love this place. The stars just weren't aligned correctly last night.

WE had a great time at BoomBozz---stayed until Midnight since the kids would not stop HoolaHooping! Babyfishmouth(duo) did a great job! We ate earlier at BoomBozz and had a 45 minute wait but did not mind since the kids were able to play on the front lawn...we left to walk around and then got on the Pool Party Express for a ride to Douglass Loop and back-Everyone seemed to be having fun! :D
