VT's Bubble Cup

by SheilaB » Mon May 18, 2009 4:25 pm

So, I had a ton of non-work work to do on Saturday (non-work work is work for various non-profits, boards and committees that I sit on meaning it is work that I do for "fun" not for money.) I also had a hankering for some bubble tea so I decided to check out VT's Bubble Cup.

The tea was perfect (if you like tapioca balls in your sweet milky tea - which I do), the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was lively and fun - there were a couple of tables of late teen or early twenty-somethings playing cards and generally having a good time without being too loud or obnoxious in any way. They have very thoughtfully installed outlets at each of the booths so you can set up your laptop and work. I did not sample the pastries (lotus cakes, red bean cakes and a few others) or the shave ice, but it all looked quite delicious. Nothing like a real shave ice treat on a hot summer day.

Just wanted to recommend this place as I found it delightful and friendly and I'd like to see them stick around.

I've started to make a habit out of getting a quick and cheap meal at Lonnie's, then heading across the street to the Bubble Cup for dessert. Last time I went, I was with my girlfriend, and we each got bubble tea, but I got mine cold, and her's was hot. Cold bubble tea is spectacularly refreshing on a hot afternoon, whereas the hot version works very well as a dessert after a light meal.

It surprised he heck out of me how much the temperature change alone changed the drink. It's very versatile.

That's good to know. I live in the highlands and I've always thought this was an Italian Ice or Smoothie shoppe. I'll have to check it out. Thank you.
