Great dinner at Corbett's

by Will Crawford » Mon May 18, 2009 9:39 am

My bride, Ruth, and I celebrated our one year anniversary at Corbett's last night and had a wonderful meal. We started at the bar with a cocktail and some conversation with some other newly wedded folks. Then a sharp looking couple came in and sat at the end of the bar. The man asked about rum and David the bartender told him what they had to offer. I thought could this be.....Phil... We were seated at nice table and I told Ruth about the many topics started by Phil. We went back to the bar and introduced ourselves and sure enough it was Phil and his lovely wife Donna. It was great to put a face to the name.. Phil and Donna, I really hope you guys come out and live in Oldham county.

Back to the meal. Chef Kevin sent out an amuse of pressed cantaloupe, brie and bacon. Very tasty.. Then we had the Poached Egg- Prosciutto Ribbon, Brioche, Truffle & Herbs. We also had the French Onion soup. For entrees we had the Prime Filet- Asparagus, Mushroooms, Roasted NewPotatoes, Bordelaise & Truffle Butter and the Halibut- Shaved Prosciutto, Lemon, Rosemary, Marinated Tomato, Leeks, Couscous. both melted in our mouths.
Phil sent over a nice glass of Altos Malbec. thanks...

It was all very delicious and the service was fantastic. Thanks to Chef Chris and his bride Kristen for making this a wonderful experience with their touches large and small. Dean has a top notch place and it is so nice to go to a fine dinning establishment that is also so comfortable.

More kudos for Corbett's. Had a wonderful dinner with friends there last weekend - terrific as always. I do worry a bit - it was UofL graduation night, the day before Mother's day and they were only about half full at 8PM, and our server told us our table was not going to turn that night. Hang in there, Deano - we'll be out of this recession soup pretty soon.

OK I'm back had the sweetbreads, romaine (Çeasar) salad, and halibut. All wonderful and very well done. Add a nice Alsacien gewertzraminer and life is good.
