The problem is, and I think I can speak for most of us true fans who frequent the yard on a regular basis, the dining options seem insipid and un-inspired. For those folks who might take the kids out once or twice a season, then the offerings might seem normal and reasonable pricewise as compared to going to see a Major League team like the Reds. For example, A bottle of water costs $4.00 at Great American Ball Park and a beer will run you $6.00(for a draft swill).
In my opinion(and hopefully others who go to twenty or more games a year) outside of the standard "ball-park fare" there really isn't much out there that contributes to the whole experience of the game. The opportunity is there to present interesting food with "local" flair,(Maybe like a Grilled Pimento Cheese and Benedictine, Homestyle Chili with Noodles in it, perhaps create a hand-held Hot Brown, offer us Rolled Oysters, or even a decent Fried Fish Sandwich on Rye...how hard can it be guys!?) but the current holders of the concessions(Centerplate) seem to have the statis-quo in mind. I guess it would take too much effort on someone's part, so therefore, they just keep serving the same ole' crap year in and out because they can.
