DCE now serving Jimmy John's sammiches

by Matthew Landan » Fri May 15, 2009 5:40 pm

That's RIGHT!
We now serve Jimmy John's complete menu.
Order at the DCE bar while enjoying your favorite (espresso, beer, smoothie, ice tea, hot tea, soft drink, etc...) and PRESTO 5 minutes later your sammich arrives.
Kill two birds with one stone at DCE!

Although I'm notorious as having a preferential option for local indies, I have to say that Jimmy John's Veggie Club on their seven-grain bread is one of the better vegetarian sammies around. In the top 10 percentile, anyway.

I've always wondered what they put in their bread to make it so addicting. It can't be anything legal!

I found myself driving around downtown yesterday needing to find something to eat and wanting a beer as well. Remembering this post I rolled up on DCE ready to eat. I normally would have never gone to a Jimmy Johns, but was willing to bend my rules on this occasion. Matthew gave me a JJ menu to look over while he was pouring my brew(what was the name of that again Matthew?). My order was called in thru the computer and in under five minutes my food had arrived via bike delivery. I couldnt believe how fast my sub got there. While the sub was good( in no way outranking my fav from Lotsa Pasta) the thing that made it all the better was hanging out in the funky DCE enjoying conversation with Matthew. If you havent been over to check out his place your missing out...cool vibe, high ceilings, walls covered in art, intimate back patio area, tables on the street and a impressive brew line up.

And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Thanks for the compliments Jon!
The beer you drank was a Rogue Double Dead Guy - it's an imperial helles double bock (for whoever is counting) - at 9%ABV it packs a wallop. Very hoppy and ambery. the keg is almost done so in a week or so I should have something new on tap.
