Snappy Tomato Pizza Closed

by JustinHammond » Tue May 12, 2009 3:46 pm

Drove past the Snappy Tomato pizza today and saw it was cleared out and for sale. All of the signage is gone as if it was never there. Anyone know what is going on? I think they have one of the best, if not the best, bbq chicken pizzas in town.

I called, and they told me they had moved to the Summit. When I get a hankering for delivered pizza, I usually order Tony Boombozz. Snappy Tomato was my second favorite in the area. Clifton's and Bearno's are great for dining in (I go to Bearno's By the Bridge the first Monday of each month because a good friend plays the drums for Swing Street, a local Big Band). Maybe Danny Mac's can open up another spot...

Snappy has left. It seems they want to hit the "mom and Pop" type franchises (which is great) in places like Leitchfield, Ky etc.

The space is available, only not to restaurants.
If anyone is interested for 2500 sq. ft of space they are to contact Marshall Realty.

Word on the street here is were getting one in Taylorsville. I have never had the Snappy before. What style would best describe it?
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

This is how they describe themself.

Snappy Tomato Pizza specializes in providing top quality pizzas, hoagies, salads and snappetizers with exceptionally efficient and friendly service. We make our pizza dough fresh daily and use a blend of fresh cheeses (not frozen). We also use a special homemade pizza sauce recipe that is delightfully unique. Snappy Tomato Pizza uses a fine selection of fresh vegetables and high grade meat toppings to further demonstrate our commitment to serving only quality products to our customers. We believe Snappy Tomato Pizza is superior in quality to other pizza products--plain & simple!!

They make the best bbq chicken pizza I have ever tasted. I am not a huge fan of the their other pizzas, but the bbq chicken pizza is awesome. Hand tossed style dough, kind of like Papa Johns, only it taste good.

Snappy Tomato's cheese tastes like sesame oil.

I have to strongly disagree.

For about a year, they were within a block of our apartment. We found Snappy to be a good, dependable source of serviceable pizza. Because it was always piping hot when we got it. The few times we ordered it from further away, it definitely suffered from cooling.

Still better than Papa John's. Better sauce. Lots of cheese.

I just ate at the one on Brownsboro (22) near Chamberlain last night. It's walking distance from our house, and we always get a decent pizza. It was so nice out yesterda that I put my toddler in her wagon and we walked up to pick up the pizza. I tried the wings last night and was surprised at how big they were - and the sauce was surprisingly good too. Now none of this is going to win awards, but if you're in the market for delivery pizza and wings, we've always been pleased with Snappy Tomato.

It wouldn't make much sense to open one at the Summit, though. The one on 22 at Chamberlain is about 2 blocks from the Summit.

wasn't Snappy started by ex- PJ's folks.... to me its like PJs in the early years, a passable pie, not offensive, but you won't find yourself craving one

We were suprised to see Snappy Tomato in the outskirts of Cinci. We sometimes take off-roads via GPS (or the 'force', at times), and traveled along the Ohio River on our way back from W(BG)V after our Christams visit, and saw at least 2 of them.

Pizza Magia was started by Dan Holland (I think is the correct name) who used to work for Papa Johns. There was a lawsuit and they had to change some things at Pizza Magia. Evidently the changes were tough and I can't remember the details, but their might have been monetary damages paid to PJs as well. Eventually, the local stores were absorbed into the already established chain from Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati -- Snappy Tomato. Snappy Tomato has been around for a long time. Something like 30 years I think.
