Lemongrass noodle bowl

by Joan J » Fri May 08, 2009 8:24 pm

Just have to rave about St Matthews Lemongress Buon Thit Nuong (pork and lemongrass noodle bowl). This is a stable of life in our household, always delicious, but especially so tonight, with richer lemongrass flavor, perfect balance of cilantro, plus our option of mild or hot dressy. If you haven't had one recently, check it out! Thanks Lemongrass (not sure they read this), but thanks anyway.

Is that the same Lemongrass restaurant that's in Middletown? I thought they closed all store except for that one? Just wondering...

Kim, I think the original Lemongrass on Bardstown changed owners and became La Cue, but the others - St. Matthews and Middletown - remain with the original owners. Not absolutely positive, but I think that's the way it is.

I frequent the one in St Matthews for lunch and have always had good meals. Maybe my favorite Pad Tai.

Strange as it sounds, I have never made it to this place. What's a suggestion for something to try the first time?

I love their Pho Thai, especially when I'm having sinus issues. Add enough heat, and it's like swallowing a vaporizor, and tastes soooo good.

I've tried it three times and will not go back. I thought it was the worst Pad Thai I've ever had, greasy and clumpy. My daughter had a chicken dish (kung pao?) and it was dry, thick and chewy. Way overcooked. I don't go further than Simply Thai for the pad thai fix.

Simply Thai's pad thai is excellent ... see this week's review. Thai Taste on lower Brownsboro can also whip up a very nice one ...

The trick with Lemongrass, I've found, is to go for the noodle bowls. The Thai and Chinese dishes are not so great.
For Pad Thai, Thai Taste on Lower Brownsboro is great-- less $$$ than Simply Thai.
Less of a foodie than ya'll, but I know my cheap Asian dives!
