In Louisville, Cottage Inn. I'm not crazy about liver and onions, but my wife (who used to be a farm girl before she went to college and got sophisticated ;) ) just loves them.

Southern Indiana? Does Our Best do liver and onions? Or Southside Cafe in New Albany? (I'm not even sure if it's open or closed right now.)

Longhorn Steakhouse has very good all you can eat grilled Liver and Onions on their lunch menu. I believe it's $6.99 including one side and their wonderful bread. While it's not on their dinner menu you can get it then if you ask for it.

Beef liver....Yuck...With all of the stuff they shoot into cattle nowadays, from from steroids and antibiotics and knowing what the livers function is, I would rather starve than eat beef liver.

Just another reason to go to your farmers market and get some locally produced beef that doesnt have any of that stuff in it. Preferably some thats been finished on grass(opposed to grain).
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Well, I definitely don't like pork liver. I could easily live without beef liver. Chicken livers are okay. BUT I LOVE LAMB LIVER! Haven't had any in years - not since I left Boyle County. We use to buy half a lamb from the local 4H-club every spring. The meat cutter found out that we liked lamb liver and we ended up getting most everybody's! I was one happy camper. Does anybody know where I can purchase lamb liver locally?

Beat me to it! We've got so many good sources around the metro nowadays, too ... Dreamcatcher, Fiedler, Green River, the folks at Preferred Meats at Sellersburg. Doll's Market carries Green River, and the smaller locals are well represented at the farmers' markets.

Liver, schmiver ... locally produced meat is both healthier and more humane. Short of going vegetarian, those two factors make local meat, poultry and eggs a no-brainer for us.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned calf's liver, by the way. Even liver-haters would have a mighty hard time disliking a well-prepared sample of this stuff - quickly pan-sauteed with onions, still pink (yes, pink) in the center, tender, delicious and MILD.

We were at Club Grotto last night and I'm pretty sure they still have it listed on the menu as a Grotto Classic. Haven't had it in a while, but they do an awfully good version of this dish.

It's been years ago, but Masterson's used to have about the best liver and onions in town. Think they might only do catering now though.

Seviche has veal's calf liver with carmelized onion, Point Reyes blue cheese, and demi glaze. It's the bomb. I ordered it the last time I was there and never get tired of it. I also have had the liver and onions at Club Grotto and they were great. I've heard they're a favorite for the dish.
