Best restaurants for the uber-healthy eaters

Where would you take your worst diet nightmare?

Meat is on the menu, but white flour, fats, creamy sauces, not so much. Know what I mean?

Not in Louisville, but i went to a Turkish restaurant in Weehawken, N.J., once that basically put out a gigantic platter of mixed grilled meats. And some pitas. And beer, lots of beer, plus raki for those who dared. It was a cardiologists' nightmare, but it was good.

Wouldn't any Asian restaurant meet those requirements?

More serious answer: Seviche would fill this bill. So would Basa. Or 732 Social.

Or skip the meat and enjoy Zen Garden or Zen Teahouse.

Sure. Asian cuisine in general doesn't use cream sauces, uses lots of vegetables and is naturally pretty healthy. Fats are used in moderation and rice noodles can easily be substituted for wheat noodles.

The original request was for a meal that did not use cream sauce, nor white flour, was low fat and meat OK. That combination sounds like Asian cuisine to me.

We've never had a problem with any local restaurant here . . . can always make a "healthy" request, and never had anyone say "no." Even many of the chains today can easily make substitutions.

Tend to disagree somewhat about Asian. It depends what you order, as many/most dishes carry a surprising amount of sugar, and salt/soy sauce is not real healthy. We have had good experiences at several (mainly Thai), but find that many local Chinese use pre-made ingredients (egg rolls, good example) and don't communicate well enough to cut sugar.
