"Throwback" Pepsi with natural sugar

by Steve R » Sun Apr 26, 2009 10:02 pm

I was at Target today and picked up some Pepsi made with sugar instead of corn syrup. I am a Coke drinker and love the mexican import variety but when I tried the Kosher Coke it seemed real foamy and not as good. May have been the 2-litre vs.bottle I dunno but this Pepsi really reminds me of the original Coke ...before it became "Classic". Pepsi always seemed too sweet for me and doesn't have that "burn" that Coke has. They also had "Throwback" Mountain Dew for all you good ol' boys who drink it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are snooty about corn syrup.

Surely Coke will realize the demand is rising for this and come out with "New" uhh "Old" uhh "More Classic" Coke. The choice for the new generation is Coke made with cane sugar!!!

For the past couple of years, I have been purchasing Mexican Coca-Cola from the Mexican food section of grocery stores. Although the Mexican "real sugar" Coke is about $1.99 per glass bottle, the "real sugar" Coke tastes much better with bourbon.

True story.......................About a month ago, I was discussing food and beverages with some clients.

After repeatedly stating that I prefered Mexican Coke over American Coke, I noticed they were looking at me like I was crazy.

After further clarification........from experience, be specific when referring to Coca-Cola as "Coke".

I read yet another survey or "what do you call carbonated beverages?" Various names such as "soda", "pop", but in the South, all are known as "coke." As in "What kind of coke would you like?" "I'll have a Mountain Dew."

And I actually prefer RC for the 'burn.'

My husband still doesn't understand "What kind of Coke would you like?" and he's lived here for 12 years. :D

I picked up a 12 pack of the pepsi throwback saturday at Meijer, and its excellent,

if your a pepsi or dew fan, stock up, its only going to be around for 8 weeks.

Hopefully it will do well, and they'll quit putting that nasty HFCS in drinks. I hate the aftertaste!
