Can anyone recommend a casual place for a few drinks and a bite to eat in Frankfort on Sunday evening?

Donna and I drove around Frankfort for about an hour checking menus. We finally gave up and drove on to Lexington and found a decent bar and grill for lunch that I would not recommend.

How about eating like pigs before you leave Louisville and using Frankfort for a bathroom stop. My assumption would be that Frankfort does a good job cleaning their lavatories.

They have an Applebee's and a Longhorn that's about as good as you're going to get there in my opinion.

The loss of Scotty's Pink Pig barbecue pretty much reduced the Frankfort dining experience by half. :(

But isn't there a branch of Thai Smile down there?

Midway is not far from Frankfort and there are several excellent places there: the Holly Hill Inn ( http://www.hollyhillinn.com) is fabulous food in a beautiful setting, and Wallace Station (a sister restaurant of Holly Hill Inn) is a very casual sandwich shoppe with great, huge sandwiches and picnic tables on their outdoor deck. We had a lovely lunch there on Friday . Not sure if either is open on Sunday night, though.

There is a Thai Smile and it is very good. The problem is that hardly anything is open on Sundays in Frankfort. Serafini tried for awhile, but it was short-lived. Bombay was good too until they closed. Except for Thai Smile, Miguels, and Adelias, you need to go downtown to get good eats.

The best places in Frankfort to eat IMHO:

Claire Ann's
Rick's White Light Diner (not for the fragile or timid)
Thai Smile
Capital Cellars (our favorite place to hang out and have drinks)
Buddy's Pizza (Get a pizza to take over to Capital Cellars)
Adelia's
Serafini
Miguel's
Meeting House Bed & Breakfast Cafe (wonderful little patio)

There's a new Cattleman's Roadhouse, but it was built after we moved so we never got to try it. We liked the hummus and burgers down at Nema's but now its called Oasis, and can't vouch for it.

There is a Mexican place on US 60 on the east side of Frankfort that isn't bad. It's your basic Mexican place with drinkable margaritas. I don't recall the name.

Serafini is amazing. I had my "swearing- in" brunch there with a group of maybe 20 or so people. Service was excellent. Not a bad wine list. The food is awesome. Location is great too.

I second the vote for Holly Hill. Also, for another quick (and beatiful) drive through horse farm country, there is Cleveland's in Versailles.

A few other good places in Frankfort: Adelias, Candelberry Tea Room, Kanzaman's Mediterrnean.
