You like it HOT? Mai's Thai

I know there are several folks on this forum who really like their food hot. I just had the Red Curry at Mai's Thai at Medium. I cannot imagine eating it at Hot or Thai Hot. If you find the Thai Hot not hot enough, then you must have innards of steel.

I live in Jeffersonville, and love the food here, quick and cheap, but the service is some of the rudest I have ever encountered, I would dismiss if it was just once, but many times we have been talked down to by the young lady who works at the counter, I would never assume racism unless we had not seen it first hand, I had ask for a takeout menu before and I was told "It's online!" the next time my wife picked up our food, while she waited she watched another white lady meet the same fate when asking for a take out menu, but only moments later an African-American lady, ask for a take out menu and was met with, "sure here you go" that was actually the last time we ordered from there, but the food is amazing, and we'll most likely get it again, I would hope this young lady is not the face of Mai Thai, because I hear the owner is a great guy.

I always order everything extra Thai hot at Mai's ... delicious food, and quite fiery, too. Just typing this makes me want to go there...maybe tomorrow for lunch.

Been gone for a minute, but wanted to chime in... yes, the service of the front house staff SUCKS, but after a year of going there near every Friday, the young lady has mellowed out quite a bit. I believe she and the older woman up front are related, and long-time employees, so they will be there for a while.

While I don't condone it, both my husband and I overcame our reaction to them, and forget it as soon as we get our food.

And Mai, who is a lady, is a very very sweet lady, who makes Thai food "the way [she] likes it". She sends much of her proceeds to a temple (non-denominational) in her homeland, and wishes to open a similar place in Louisville, a place for spiritual gatherings to celebrate in each person's own way.

Call in your order (it seems we expect rudeness on the phones these days) give 'em 15 minutes, and walk-in to usually find it ready. And say hai to Mai. It's worth it.
