Jackson's Organic Coffee is closed

by christopher stockton » Wed Apr 22, 2009 12:40 pm

I regret to inform all my friends and customers, that as of yesterday afternoon Jackson's Organic Coffee has closed.

Sondra will be retaining the old drive thru location but she has relinquished the name of the company as of yesterday. I am not sure what it will be called in the future.

I believe she will learn to roast and be taking on the job of roaster for her new company. I wish her the best.

Please be advised that although all the signs for Jackson's Organic Coffee are still up in the shop and for whatever reason have not been taken down yet, this is not Jackson's Organic Coffee anymore.

I'm sorry for letting everyone down who relies on my coffee. I will make it up in the future. That is a Promise. I hope to start again soon and Jackson's Organic Coffee will rise like a phoenix.

Thanks for all your love and support over the past two years.

Christopher

Wow, this is incredibly sad. I've loved your stuff for a while now but have been appreciating it even more lately in the form of the "Rabbi Roast" at my synagogue. I'm really sorry to see you go. Are you planning to stay in town and maybe open another shop?

I am literally running down the center of the road to get to Valu Market as quickly as possible and carry away as much as I can. NEED those beans!

I'm sorry for the short notice.. I never had the time to get everyone stocked...... It's true, what's on the shelf is all there is for now.. As I said I have every intention of getting up, dusting off and getting back on the horse.... open to suggestions too. Anyone need a good Roaster?

Thanks again everyone.

Christopher,

I'm terribly sorry to hear this. Business break-ups are always rough. I know you will find a great new opportunity.

Hope to see you at the next Off-line.

Christopher, Sorry to hear it finally came down. When you told me the other day, I had no idea how fast it would be. Stay strong. Let us know when you get settled!

Thanks Bill.

The break up is not what is bothering me, that was what I wanted. All I wanted out of the deal was to have a clean break and retain my company name... The company was after all started for my dog Jackson's immortality, cheesy as that is. The problem though, is that my ex partner is selling coffee in my cans and under my name and she has never roasted a bean in her life.

We signed documents yesterday and she was to relinquish the name upon signing

People need to know it is not my product and that is not her company name.

I received this message from her attorney explaining what is going on and it sucks!

I thought I'd post it so it is public info.... remember the deal was to release my company name upon signing but her attorney worded the contract that allows her to keep using if she posts it's not her company .. or something to that effect.. here it is.

"Mr. Stockton:
It is my understanding that, prior to the location opening this morning, signs were posted on the property and on the products which state that the business is now operating under the new d/b/a “Redhot Roasters.” If so, that operating name change is fully consistent with the agreement. I know that Sondra fully intends to move forward operating only under her new d/b/a as agreed."

The signs, two of them, were about 10 inches long and hidden behind the window, nothing on the cans saying it's not my product. Since it is hard to read the signs at the shop I will make sure it's publically noted here. The new company name is "Redhot Rooster" and I wish them luck!.

I know this is not a forum to rave about this stuff but all I have is my reputation. I worked very hard to get the coffee going in the right direction, I'm sure you chefs out there can understand. It's the same with food.

This will all blow over soon but in the meantime, please don't think that is my coffee.

I'm done raving and I won't dwell on this anymore. I''m embarrassed to have to do this but I don't know any other way of getting it out to my customers. Everything works out in the end. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I do want Redrooster to do well, just do it on your own legs.

Thanks for all who have supported me. I will not let this get me down.

Damn. Christopher, Tom and I are so sorry to hear the outcome as well as how it all went down. I could say all the clichéd things like"when one door closes.." but suffice to say that we wish you the best, and you never know how your forum friends and your loyal customers may play a role in what's next for you. In the meantime - PM me with how we can get ahold of you, since I only have your business e-mail. Soldier on...

Christopher,

Wow. Sorry to hear the news.....

From all of us at Ray's, best of luck with everything! You've always been very kind and generous and supportive to me and my coffee biz (hey, we all run out of coffee filters sometimes!), and I'm certain your future will hold good things ahead. Please know that you have many friends in the community!

Cheers,

-Nimbus

Christopher,
Jackson's was a bright spot in my every work day. I will miss the talk as much as the brew. I look forward to adding both back to my day. I would wish you luck, but with you, I expect luck has nothing to do with it. See you soon, Red Truck Dave.

Are you going to try to have a walk-in shop or just a drive thru again? I like your coffee but I feel environmentally irresponsible when I have to sit in a line at a drive thru without the option of turning the car off and going in.

Ive been told that most cars emit the same amount of pollutants at start up as they do in a twenty minute idle. I have nothing to back that up though.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
