I am hopeful (and certain) that we are not the first to get the news. I 'm sure Chef Baker has addressed this matter in detail with the owners of the store.

What is next for you Chef? And any word on who is taking your place?

All the best to Harold and his success in his next venture.

Also, all the best to Will Crawford and continued success of Westport General Store.

and to announce that they are quiting the Derby eve .... but that's just my opinion ....

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Neither of those points sound like very good form for a professional.

If the announcement was going to be put here it should've been put by the owner of the restaurant not the chef. With the chef announcing it it sounds like he's trying to hurt the restaurant (which he may be, we don't know). In addition the timing is terrible to say the least, everyone knows that Derby weekend is extremely busy time so a resignation effective that weekend is like a stab in the back to the restaurant.

As I said we don't know what happened but overall it's certainly sounds like the resignation was designed to be as harmful as possible to the restaurant. Something I don't believe any of us want to see happen to any restaurant but especially to Westport General Store.

Quite possibly the strangest post I have read in a long time. Chef, are you saying that your signature dishes leave when you do? If so, no offense, but you come off as very rude and arrogant.

Maybe I am missing something, but sinmce when did a chef announcing that he was leaving a position equate to mellow-drama?

Chef Harold simply made an announcement. He did not bad-mouth his soon-to-be former employer and did not present his departure as a negative thing. Who cares when his last day is. If the guy gave two weeks notice on the LH message board, I am sure he gave the same two weeks notice to the owner of Westport GC.

I do not find an announcement such as this in poor tatse...seriously, did I miss something?

All the best to the chef and to Westport GC...I really need to get out there soon.

Derrick,

I totally agree. Maybe Will can chime in.
