J. Gumbo's at Summit Rocks!

by Deb Hall » Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:56 pm

Went to my local location for lunch today. I was extremely pleasantly surprised at both the improved quality and quantity of the Drunken Chicken - the only thing I seem to order there. i don't know if it's relate to the original owner being back in the kitchen ( or the fact that I expressed sympathy for what the server must have gone thru on Wednesday  ), but the portion was huge ( almost twice what I was used to) and there were very large pieces of tender chicken in my order. Not at all what I've experienced before - largely at 4th Street and some at Frankfort. The food was excellent and quite a deal for $6! It'll be an even better deal when we go back for dinners at $3 per bowl. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Deb! That is very exciting news to hear! The quality issue is most certainly a direct consequence of Billy being back in the kitchen full time (and by full time I mean 16 hours a day!). The portions should remain hearty and plentiful from this point forward. I will be very interested to hear if that changes for any reason.

As of Monday, many of our stores will also be returning to our original price point of $5 per bowl in addition to the promotions we have running. So that will help in the value department as well!

Ronnie,

Glad to share good news.

So is the $3 dinner bowl promo expired already? I knew it was not valid on weekends, but didn't realize it was expiring this fast. Want to take the whole family.

Deb, we are currently running our $3 after 3pm* promotion for the foreseeable future. There will come a time when we have to put it to bed, but for right now the promo is open ended. If for some reason you find this not to be the case, please contact me immediately. There will be posted notification of when the offer will expire.

*Regular entrees are $3 after 3pm with the purchase of a soft drink. Weekdays only.

Went to J Gumbo's at Summit today a little after noon. Got bowl of Voodoo Chicken for $3 with soft drink purchase. BTW - this Voodoo Chicken was maybe the most hotly spiced dish I've ever had without having to beg for it. Came highly spiced "right off the line". Delicious.

the wife and I went to the Stonybrook location, and they had a sign up that said the $3 bowl was 2-5pm only...

they were out of Gumbo, and crawfish cheese deep. and it was just about 7pm...

Rob,

The Hurstborne Lane location is a privately owned franchise and not under direct operational control of the company. Therefore, we can only recommend that they follow the specifications of the specials we put forth. We cannot force an owner to realize the advantages of competitive promotions. Unfortunately, this requires us to pull out the old "*at participating J. Gumbo's only," which appears to be athe case with the Hurstborne location.

We want all J. Gumbo's to succeed, but we can only do so much in that direction. All other J. Gumbo's, to my knowledge at this time, will continue to offer the $3 entree* after 3pm with no further restrictions.

*with the purchase of a regular soft drink, at participating locations.

Thanks Ronnie, we will take that into consideration on future trips to J. Gumbo.

Ronnie,
I had posted this at first but took it down and now decided to put it back up. I was wondering what locations participated in this special. I know that the Baxter Ave location charged full price for a big bowl of Voodoo Chicken and drink yesterday around 7:00PM or so.

Elizabeth,

I am working on that as I type this. I am not sure what the problem is at the Baxter store, but rest assured it will address and rectified immediately!

Thank you!
