Butcher's Best Vacation

by Kevin Harter » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:56 pm

Some people spend their spring break in Florida, I spent mine with the gang at Butcher's Best....

We had plans to go to NC for the break, but my wife and son went back home to CT to spend some time with her family, leaving me with a deck to stain and a grill to tend.

Every evening after cleaning up my staining mess I made my way to BB. First up was pork chops which I smoked, next was a delicious strip, and day three was grilled Italian and Andouille sausage. The sausage is made at the market and this was the first time sampling the Andouille (at Jimmy's suggestion). It has a great hot kick and is now a favorite.

The meat for the major meat eating holiday's (aren't they all?) has all be fantastic. Thanksgiving Turkey, Christmas Prime Rib, and this past Sunday an Easter leg of lamb stuffed with greens and feta, marinated in thyme, garlic, lemon, and olive oil was a hit (even with my 10 year old son!).

The prepared foods and salads are great for those times in the week when I can't get to the grill. There is always an assortment of stuffed chicken breasts (Italian, Mexican, Red Peppers and Feta, and more) coated with panko bread crumbs that make for great weekday meals. Pre made hamburger patties are wonderful (bacon and bleu burgers!) Oh, and the addition of selected fish has been great, scallop and shrimp skewers have recently made it to my grill to accompany the other meats.

Jimmy, Amy (unfortunately a Stiller’s fan…), Rick, and Dave keep up the great work! Thanks for making a great vacation destination!

Now if NABC would move in next door... I can dream!

Yeah...What's up with Jimmy letting a Squeelers fan work in the place. The very first time I went in (last fall) I was wearing a very nice (but soiled) Armani sweatshirt depicting the logo of my beloved Cleveland Browns and she was on my case like a bad case of acne. I got over it after she made promises never drop my purchase on the floor BEFORE she wrapped it and to never EVER to mention the "immaculate reception" in my presence.
