Tea

by Ann K » Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:02 pm

I'm looking for a source for a tea called Reflections. It comes in bags for making either 1- or 2-gallon batches. We tried it in a restaurant in Evansville, IN, and the owner gave us a few bags to take home, but I can't find an online source. Does anyone know if a local purveyor carries it?

And while we're on the subject of tea, I was looking for Lapsang Souchong tea the other day and couldn't find it. Anyone know who carries it locally?

Jackie, I'm pretty sure I saw it at the new Zen Tea House, where you can buy tea by the cup and, I believe, by the ounce to take out.

Thanks Robin! I've really been meaning to get in there and am embarrassed that I haven't yet. One more reason to check it out!

I'm 99% certain that Nuts N Stuff has Lapsang Souchong.

I've learned the hard way that it is nearly impossible to find wholesale ice tea distributors on-line. I once spent over an hour trying to find an online place that sold the mango peach camellia tea we have at Sweet Surrender for a customer in another state. I would suggest calling the restaurant where you had it and asking for their distributor's name and number. That way, you can contact the company directly and find out if it is available locally.

Jackie, I'm sure that I have bought Lapsang Souchong at the Spice Merchant in Chenoweth Square/Plaza, although it has been a good year ago.

It's worth it, Jackie! You could probably buy it retail at some of the other places mentioned, but you (and everyone) really needs to check out the Zen Tea House!

ValuMarket in MidCity Mall

Twinings Tea - Lapsang Souchong 20 ct $3.25

You might ask them to acquire Reflections. The Tea Lady works in the deli.

I was just at Nuts N Stuff to pick up some smoked paprika (mmmm) and Paul definitely has Lapsang Souchong in stock.

And guess who I met at the store? Danny Mac! And he rocks!

Valu Market was one of the places I looked, Whole Foods being the other place, both of which have an impressive selection so I was a bit suprised to not find it. I knew there would be other places that carry it, but I just hadn't ventured out yet. Maybe I need to put on some specs next I look in the Valu market aisle. Thanks for the confirmation on nuts n stuff, Leah. My dad lives right around the corner to that place and would you believe I've never been in? I've never been to the Spice Merchant, either - and I call myself a foodie. I do like the spice and herb selection at Doll's though, so I guess that's my excuse. Wonder if they have Lapsang Souchong... now that the weather's warming up, I wonder what it would taste like on ice!
