Buckheads/Rocky's for Thunder?

by Mark P » Wed Apr 15, 2009 12:38 pm

We are contemplating going to the beer tent at Rocky's (which is shared by Buckheads) for Thunder. Since I coach a doubleheader on Saturday, we wont be able to get down there until around 5 or so. Supposedly they have a buffet (I know, but I have a two year old) and room for the lil guy to roam. Anyone ever been? How was it?

Mark,

Based on the weather report, this could be one of the better bargains of Thunder. There will be plenty of great beer available, including some of the local breweries, a plentiful buffet, and one of the best locations to watch the fireworks on either side of the river. It is very kid friendly. There were plenty of children there last year, and there is plenty of room where they are set up for the kids to have some wiggle room. Did I mention that there will be good beer there?

It's really a great place to go to watch Thunder. As mentioned the food and beer are good and plentiful. The problem is going to be parking at the time of day you're going to be arriving. Assuming the weather is nice (which it is supposed to be) you'll have to park a long way away and walk to the waterfront and then back after the fireworks. This may be difficult for your three year old so you may have to take a stroller or something along that line for him, especially considering the fact he'll be very tired by the time the fireworks are over.

Not to be discouraging, but I just wanted to let you know in advance what he would be up against.
