Sweet Surrender will be closing at 5PM on the day of Thunder. Last year we stayed open late, thinking we might get some people from the traffic leaving the city, but I think we had 8 customers that whole evening (and Saturdays are usually our busiest night). So I decided to give in and close early this year.

Not sure who else is closing this year, but I saw looking back at old posts, that Havana Rumba, Mojito, and Mayan Cafe were closed last year. I think El Mundo closes each year as well. But please check with any of these places for this year, because I have no idea as to what their current plans are.

So far....All anyone has mentioned is Mom n Pop Restaurants closing......I know when Furlongs was on
Frankfort from 98 to 05....it was a great night......

Now it being on the corner where its at....It's crucial that it's open for all of the people on that end of town.....You have to think of the customers and all of the people in town......

Not just thinking of the good time you will miss......Take care of the business......

Wow....

Tommy, I think it is more about business and less about having a good time. Many restaurants are dead on Thunder so they figure why pay for all the labor when no one is coming out....

Anyway, we are open on Thunder and have a great band playing. Swing Shift. If you want to get out of town this is a good place to do it.

Okay...

As I mentioned above, last year I actually stayed open LATE, until past midnight thinking we would be busy as people left downtown. And the business I did receive that entire eveining was less than I would normally have had on a Tuesday night, not a Saturday night.

My decision to close at 5pm this year IS a business decision. It is not worth the cost of labor to be open for serveral hours for less than ten customers. I could not care less about having a "good time" on the day of Thunder.

Different businesses draw different crowds for different reason, but the question that started this topic did not ask for specific restaurants/businesses to give their answers (i.e. no "Mom n Pop" establishments need reply).

Come Back Inn Louisville will be closed on Thunder. We’ve tried being open in the past but the customers just don’t show. Come Back Inn Jeffersonville will be closed for Thunder as well, but for a private gathering.
