The Power of this Forum

by Phil Gissen » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:10 pm

Robin,
I do not know if you realize how powerful Hotbytes is in Louisville. Donna wants me to make restaurant reserations in an assumed name! Every culinary establishment we walk into seems to know who I am, and it makes Donna unseemingly nervous.

Fortunately, it has not led to major issues as yet. Last night, I dragged myself out of bed since I have been sick, to take our daughter to her last meal in Louisville at Asiatique. We sat down at the bar and ordered some cocktails and wine and presently the bartender placed his special margarita in front of me. I thanked him for this special gift and was about the inform him about the irony of the cocktail after my experience with a margarita mix on Frankfort Ave.

The bartender interrupted me and said, "I. know about the story. That's why I wanted you to taste my margarita. I'm Anderson from the Hotbytes site." Donna tried to duck, but Anderson did have a smile on his face and he was very gracious. The margarita was great. We proceeded to have another incredible meal at Asiatique and Bart was the perfect server and host. Thank you.

Donna is going to be overly cautious in the future and she insists on making reservations in an assumed name. I sheepishly suggested Madoff. Donna didn't laugh. Take care

It's funny how you meet people out there in the world, and then turn around and mention this forum and they are all like "Oh yeah, I'm so-and-so on HotBytes" and you then, of course, reveal yourself and it opens up this whole new world of communication between you.

It has happened to me a half a dozen times since I've been a member here with sales reps, customers, etc. You never know who you'll meet who is a HotByter (Hotbyteie?)!!!

There is a mystique to this place...

Phil,
It's true! I don't know if you remember meeting me at Avalon's bar outside a few weeks back. You and Donna were talking to my girlfriend. When I walked up she informed me you were new to town, after you said you were from Milwaukee I think I asked if you were "forum Phil" we got a good laugh.
I constantly run in to forum regulars out there. John Hagan, you owe me a Fernet!!

No problem, I owe you at least that for turning me on to that wonderful elixir.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Bardstown road spot for rent

by Susanne Smith » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:20 pm

I have a great Bardstown Rd. location and concept for an all night mid/upscale diner. I need to act fast as the spot is to the first bidder. I can come up with about 20 grand and 40 would do the trick. I wonder if anyone out there is up for this kind of commintment. Equal partners in all accept the concept which is pretty darn simple. Good breakfast food for the masses of people roaming Bardstown rd. The place needs a lot of work, I have plumbers, carpet layers, workman, etc... the cafe comes with 3 upstairs apts. that rent for around 350 a piece. Rent is 4000 a month plus triple net lease...which you know, means all other bills are the renters responsibility... let me know if you are anyone else might be interested. You can reach me at the Shady Lane Cafe 893=5118 or my cell 303-7929 ask for Bill. This is a great location!!!

As a retired KY teacher, I must admit I have never seen a bumper sticker stating "If You Can't Spell This, Blame Your School System".
